Open Letter To You

Dear fellow Women Human Rights Defenders,

As we enter into this festive season, I want to take a moment to address all of you and encourage you to prioritize self-care during this time. It's essential that we preserve our own well-being so that we can continue to fight for gender equality and the emancipation of women in the coming year.

The work we do is crucial, but it can also be emotionally and physically exhausting. That's why it's important to take breaks and engage in activities that rejuvenate us. Use this festive season as an opportunity to recharge and refocus.

Here are a few suggestions for self-care during this short break:

1. Rest and relaxation: Take some time to rest and restore your energy. Engage in activities that promote relaxation, such as reading, meditating, or taking long walks in nature. Remember, self-care looks different for everyone, so do what brings you peace.

2. Connect with loved ones: Spend quality time with your family and friends. Surround yourself with people who uplift and support you. This social connection can provide emotional nourishment and help you feel rejuvenated.

3. Engage in hobbies or passions: Dedicate time to activities that bring you joy. Whether it's painting, writing, dancing, or playing an instrument, indulge in activities that allow you to express yourself and recharge your spirit.

4. Reflect and set intentions: Take this time to reflect on your achievements from the past year and envision your goals for the future. Setting intentions for the upcoming year will help you stay focused and motivated to continue fighting for gender equality.

Remember, self-care is not selfish; it's a necessary practice to sustain ourselves in the long run. By taking care of ourselves, we ensure that we can show up as our best selves and continue making a meaningful impact in our work.

Wishing you all a joyous festive season filled with love, rest, and rejuvenation. Let's return in 2024 energized and fired up to push the agenda of gender equality and women's emancipation forward.

In solidarity,

SahwiraSoko
